JazzEast

partnering with co&co design inc.

The Jazzeast site has been a blast to build. On the surface, it looks pretty simple. Under the hood, it's loaded with awesome Drupal features.

First of all, this is a multi site implementation. What does that mean? Well, there is one copy of Drupal managing one database. Each piece of content knows where it is allowed to be seen. Although both themes share many semantic likenesses, they are essentially independant as far as the browsing user is concerned.

The site also integrates with CiviCRM to handle all of their targeted email newsletters, memberships and donations. If you want wish to simply opt in to the public newsletter, that's an easy option - right on the front page.

Other bits of coolness include the slideshow on the front page. That is done by merging the functionality of the SlideShow Pro Flash Module and image manipulation with Drupal. All of the images are loaded in to an internal image gallery which is tagged for the Flash module to pick up and incorporate the available images in to a preconfigured slide show. The end result is a user maintainable way to have an extremely professional looking slideshow present on an otherwise informational and google-friendly front page.

We've also heavily incorporated the views module and CCK in to this site build. With techniques like defining certain user choosable settings for content, we are able to pull specific items in to certain areas of page templates. This is all very simple for the user to do, so once we're done our training, the users are free to make changes to their own sites 24/7.
